Django DUNG, an alternative to Node.js mongodb and a unix-like-os AKA NUM

In Journal - Welcome!

I’ve heard over the past few days the Django community all abuzz over a new acronym, DUNG. DUNG, better known as Django, unix-based-os, nginx, and gunicorn, is a stack for developing and deploying Django applications.

The real questions is, why DUNG.... can’t we come up with a better acronym for what I believe to be a very well written
framework for developing web applications? After all, Django prides itself on being “The Web framework for perfectionists with deadlines.” Well, the truth of the matter is, the DUNG acronym is a joke.. a farce.. you know, a group of talented developers having a little fun.

The DUNG acronym aims to take a bit of a poke at the blog post by Travis Glines:
http://www.travisglines.com/web-coding/node-js-unix-based-os-and-mongodb-num-are-the-new-lamp. Travis indicates that Node.js, Unix-based OS, and MongoDB, aka NUM, are going to replace LAMP stacks. A few Django folks, never slow on having a bit of fun, decided.. what the hell, we can come up with yet another acronym!

So, is the Django community seriously going to use the DUNG acronym.. probably not… is 'NUM’ going to replace LAMP.. probably not. It’s another useful tool for the toolbelt of web developers, and has it’s place. And as for Pony DUNG, well, relax, smile, and have a bit of fun, life’s WAY too short!
